Nordic Walking on Austria´s biggest network of multi-terrain trails.
Nordic Walking is all about getting some exercise in the great outdoors, breathing the fresh air and experiencing a variety of terrain.
Nordic Walking is 40 % more effective than regular power-walking without poles and is an ideal form of endurance training. You´ll reach optimal fat-burning levels, while putting less stress on your knee joints, spine and hips. Muscle tension in the neck and shoulder area is released.
Nordic Walking trails and tours
Mariapfarr is home to the biggest network of multi-terrain trails in all of Austria:
119 km on total length, where our guests will find:- 15 clearly posted Nordic-Walking trails
- each ranging from 3.1 to 14.5 km distance,
- climbs that are 600 m to 6,100 m in length
- and an elevation change of 400 vertical metres.
Our 15 multi-terrain trails are available for download

This Nordic Walking Park was certified by the Austrian Nordic Walking Association and declared highly suitable for classic high-altitude training at elevations between 1,000 and 1,400 m above sea level.
With reduced air pollutants, reduced allergen exposure, reduced oxygen particle pressure and higher UV radiation from the sun, the high-mountain climate provides us with a very favourable setting.
The existing network of multi-terrain therapy paths and Nordic Walking trails takes us away from the busy roads, while the ground itself - firm and always different - is very kind on the joints. The trails can be used throughout the year and serve up varying levels of difficulty.
Several certified Nordic Walking instructors are available to offer introductory courses and Nordic Walking tours.
